Cookies
We keep tracking minimal. This page explains what cookies and similar technologies may be used on A11y Auditor, and how you can control them.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They can help websites work, remember preferences, and understand usage patterns. Some cookies are actually similar technologies (like local storage) that behave in the same way.
Cookies we use
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Help the site function and keep it secure. Without these, core features may not work. | Consent preference cookie (if you use a consent banner), basic security flags. | Yes |
| Analytics (optional) | Helps us understand high-level usage and improve performance and usability. We do not use analytics to build advertising profiles. | Page view / performance measurement cookies (only if enabled by you). | No |
| Marketing | We don’t use advertising or retargeting cookies on the free scanner. | — | No |
If you keep the free scanner stateless, you can avoid most cookie categories entirely. The only cookie you typically need is one to remember your consent choice (if you show a consent banner).
How to control cookies
- Consent banner: If shown, you can opt in/out of optional cookies at any time.
- Browser settings: You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
- Private browsing: You can use private/incognito mode to reduce persistence.
If you block all cookies, parts of the site may not function correctly (especially security and preference features).
Third-party services
If you enable optional analytics or embedded tools in future, those providers may set their own cookies or use similar technologies. Where that happens, we’ll list them in this page and in the consent controls.
Updates to this page
We may update this Cookies page if our tooling changes. Significant changes will be reflected here with a revised date.
